History

The beginning of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Italy dated back in 1870. From 1956, the following 13 Heads of Mission have followed one after another to lead the Embassy of Italy:

• Maurizio Battaglini (1986-1988)
• Giorgio Vecchi (1988-1992)
• Leopoldo Ferri de Lazara (1992-1996)
• Mario Piersigilli (1996-2001)
• Stefano Starace Janfolla (2001-2005)
